Guide to Multilingual Typing Layouts
Master the standard physical mappings and phonetic typing methods for regional and international languages.
1. Indian Government Exam Layouts
Indian state exams require typing speeds in Hindi, traditionally using Kruti Dev or Mangal (Unicode) fonts. Keyboards are configured either in Remington Gail (which has typewriter heritage) or Inscript (designed as a logical layout based on phonetic structure). Our tool implements all of these.
2. Phonetic Transliteration
Phonetic transliteration translates Latin characters (English typing) into the target language scripts in real-time. For example, typing "namaste" generates "नमस्ते". We provide phonetic converters for Hindi, Bangla, Urdu, Arabic, Japanese, and Russian.
3. Right-to-Left (RTL) Languages
Arabic and Urdu are written from right to left. Typing in these languages requires dedicated editors that respect text alignment and ligatures. Our editors use CSS bidi controls and load beautiful Nastaliq calligraphic scripts for Urdu.
4. Character Composition (Hangul)
Korean Hangul is composed of syllable blocks combining initial consonants, vowels, and final consonants. We implement the Dubeolsik standard with local state calculation, combining keystrokes like 'g-k-s-r-n-f' into '한글'.
